Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton has scooped its first instruction from Belgium’s largest drug-maker, UCB, on the sale of its chemicals business to Cytec Industries for £1.04bn, sealing a major national instruction for the US leader.
Linklaters had previously acted for UCB but Cleary sealed the new work after a beauty parade earlier this year. The pair is widely regarded as two of the most successful corporate entrants into the Belgian legal market, with Cleary acting locally for the Belgian Government and IBM.
