According to a recent Law Society report, more than 50% of all solicitors in England and Wales have undertaken some form of pro bono work in their career. If you look behind these figures, however, it tells a slightly different story.

One survey carried out showed that solicitors in smaller firms are most likely to carry out pro bono work, with just 15% of solicitors in firms with more than 81 partners carrying out such work. It is therefore worth taking a closer look at the range of pro bono projects now available at London’s larger City firms and at the type of pro bono work in which trainees can expect to be involved.
