It looks like technology may finally have caught up with the justice system in England and Wales. There are some major government initiatives underway, some of which we hope to profile in future issues of Legal IT.

‘Electronic disclosure’ is a buzzword on the rise. The UK is not yet in a position to support a large US-style e-discovery industry – and half the legal industry does not seem disposed to welcome any such eventuality – but following Kroll’s lead, more of the big US players are poised to launch their services in European markets and there appears to be a growing acceptance, at least in the major centres of legal commerce, that the UK’s litigators have something to learn from the Americans.
