National Australia Bank (NAB) is the largest of Australia’s top four banks, and also owns banks in Asia, Ireland, the UK and New Zealand, ranking 158th in the FT Global 500. Subsidiaries of the NAB include Scotland’s The Clydesdale Bank and the National Irish Bank.
David Krasnostein, who heads up the NAB legal team as chief general counsel, is based in Melbourne. He has headed up the bank’s legal function for the past eight years and reports to the NAB’s chief executive, John Stewart. Prior to joining the bank, Krasnostein was general counsel and head of strategic planning at Australian telecoms and information company Telstra Corporation. Before 1996, he was a partner at Chicago giant Sidley Austin Brown & Wood for nine years.
