Relations between Law Society chief executive Janet Paraskeva and the society’s main council have hit a new low, following a letter in which Paraskeva tells council members they should have no part in individual regulatory decisions.

Paraskeva wrote to members of the council earlier this month following press reports that Chancery Lane had launched an investigation into Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer over its dual role in Philip Green’s Marks & Spencer (M&S) bid after pressure from council members.
