London giant Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer looks set to face a high-profile investigation from the UK’s main bar, amid pressure for the Law Society of England and Wales to take a stand on rules governing conflicts of interest.
Law Society council members have told Legal Week that the society is to launch a formal inquiry into Freshfields’ controversial role advising UK tycoon Philip Green on his bid for iconic retailer Marks & Spencer (M&S) – despite having previously advised the company.
