Simmons & Simmons and Olswang are the latest firms to secure roles in the Marks & Spencer (M&S) takeover battle – after being called in to advise on the spat between Goldman Sachs and M&S chief executive Stuart Rose.

The dispute relates to allegations by the investment bank, which is advising Philip Green on his offer for the retail giant, that Rose passed on confidential information about Green’s bid to other M&S investors.
