Osborne Clarke’s (OC’s) fall from grace was much publicised. Its sudden and phenomenal spate of partner exits – 25 in the space of less than two years – came in stark contrast to its image as everyone’s favourite firm; in the late 1990s, it seemed the fast-growing TMT heavyweight could do no wrong.

After a 2002 that would send shudders down any managing partner’s spine, new firm head Simon Beswick’s year of bedding down and keeping quiet is up. He swallowed a bitter pill in accepting the firm’s mistakes in continuing to recruit through the first signs of the technology and media slump and understandably wanted time to take stock of the bruised firm. Now OC is back on the offensive, having posted a positive set of figures for the last financial year.
