The transition from legal professional to IT professional can be difficult to describe. Poacher turned gamekeeper? (Definitely not – neither side would agree which way around this should apply). Defector? Escapee? What it really amounts to is that I have previously been on the inside of the legal profession looking out – whereas now I am on the outside looking in.
The difference is that, whereas I had experience of only three firms from the inside, I now have had experience of looking into well over 100 firms or legal departments from the outside. It is this variety of experience and the fact that no two firms are the same that has provided the stimulus and has led me to have no regrets at what has proved a very significant change of lifestyle.
