The Irish Competition Authority is reviewing the case for merging the solicitors’ and barristers’ professions as Ireland considers the case for a UK-style shake-up of legal services.
The idea, which was floated last month by Competition Authority head John Fingleton, could see the professions merge if they cannot justify the necessity for the split. (25 March)
