Commercial law firms have overwhelmingly backed the current system of two-year training contracts, notwithstanding the debate over the future of the City LPC, as the Law Society’s Training Framework Review committee prepares to report to the Law Society Council in the summer.

The review committee’s consultation paper, published in January, found widespread support among the profession for the status quo, and research by Legal Week last month found that 90% of City law firm partners were opposed to any radical tinkering with the system of legal education.
