The Office for the Supervision of Solicitors is to be disbanded and replaced with a new body, the Consumer Complaints Service (CCS), to be launched next month.
The news follows the announcement that the new government-appointed Legal Services Complaints Commissioner (LSCC) has been formally given the power to fine the Law Society up to £5m if it fails to improve its complaints handling regime.
