The Irish Competition Authority is reviewing the case for merging the solicitors’ and barristers’ professions as Ireland considers the case for a UK-style shake-up of legal services.
The idea, which was floated last month by Competition Authority head John Fingleton, could see the professions merge if they could not justify the necessity for the split.
