The president of the American Bar Association (ABA) has launched a robust defence of the US class action system after the CEO of the world’s largest insurer, American Insurance Group (AIG), this week branded the US plaintiff bar as “terrorists”.
The accusation came in a speech on Tuesday (24 February) by AIG CEO Maurice Greenberg who said the efforts by the insurance industry to curb class actions was “almost like fighting the war on terrorists”.
