Insurance lawyers are to be regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) from next year under new powers the City watchdog is set to assume.
From 14 January, 2005, the FSA will take over the regulation of general insurance. All professional service firms that arrange insurance on behalf of clients will have to seek authorisation from the FSA or face prosecution.
