With Allen & Overy (A&O) preparing to elect a new corporate management team, questions are again being asked about how successful the department’s drive to match the reputation of its finance practice has been.
Back in 1999 when senior partner Bill Tudor John was deposed in favour of the then head of corporate Guy Beringer, it certainly seemed symbolic that Richard Cranfield – one of Beringer’s most influential supporters – was moved into the top corporate job.
