Neal Batson, the bankruptcy examiner of failed energy giant Enron, has taken the unprecedented step of filing for immunity from being called as a witness in any subsequent Enron-fuelled litigation.

The partner at Atlanta-based Alston & Bird, who last month completed his fourth and final report into Enron’s collapse, has asked the Southern District of New York bankruptcy court to be exempted from all future subpoenas related to the Texan energy company’s demise.
