White & Case has given up its hunt to secure the takeover of a mid-sized firm in New York after failing to find a suitable corporate and securities-focused target.
The 1,300-lawyer giant, which is based in New York, decided on a strategy of snapping up a smaller local rival earlier this year in a bid to ramp up its local corporate practice.
