Bermuda has worked hard over many years to ensure its statutes and regulations provide for a sensible yet effective regulatory environment which has facilitated, and continues to facilitate, international commerce. This is particularly the case with Bermuda’s Companies Act 1981 and the recent amendments to the Act effected by the Companies Amendment Act 2003.

The Amendment Act is a product of the ongoing examination of Bermuda’s companies legislation by a standing committee from the private sector, working closely with representatives from the Ministry of Finance and the Bermuda Monetary Authority. The Act has undergone amendments and refinements over the past 20 years, and is now accepted internationally as a mature and well thought through piece of modern legislation.
