Clifford Chance (CC) executive partner Chris Perrin has written to the Law Society downplaying Allen & Overy’s (A&O’s) role in the City of London Law Society’s (CLLS’) bid to liberalise the conflict of interest rules, Legal Week has learned.

In a move that highlights the sensitivity surrounding the debate over whether the conflicts rules should be liberalised, Perrin has asked Chancery Lane to guard against associating A&O too closely with the CLLS’ bid to secure a relaxation of the conflict rules.
