The president of the Council of Bars and Law Societies of the European Union (CCBE), Helge Kolrud has strongly attacked Competition Commissioner Mario Monti’s threat to deregulate legal services at a high level conference in Brussels today (28 October).
The meeting attended by leading representatives from a number of professions has been called by Monti to address what the European Commission (EC) believes is widespread anti-competitive behaviour among lawyers, architects and other ‘liberal professions’.
