After the likes of Oftel, Ofwat and Ofgem, it was perhaps only a matter of time before the creation of ‘Oflaw’ – a super-watchdog for the legal profession.
The existing regime for legal services with its 22 different regulatory bodies is, according to the Department for Constitutional Affairs (DCA) report, Competition and Regulation in the Legal Services Market, “out-dated, inflexible, over-complex and insufficiently accountable”.
