US lawmakers are to attempt to rein in the flood of speculative class action litigation that has hit post-Enron America in a move that looks set to strongly divide the US legal community.
The Class Action Fairness Act, which is expected to face a key vote in the Senate this month, aims to introduce new limits on the success fees that claimant lawyers can charge in multi-party suits and push more claims into federal courts.
