The watchdog set up to review the appointment of judges has criticised the Government’s plans to set up a judicial appointments commission, saying that the promised reforms do not go far enough.
The second annual report from the Independent Commission for Judicial Appointments warns that qualified candidates from less traditional backgrounds were being put off from applying altogether despite welcoming the idea of an independent body to appoint judges.
