Hummingbird, the document management (DM) systems supplier, has spoken to reassure its legal user base that their DM systems are unlikely to be threatened by the vulnerabilities exposed by the W32 Blaster worm virus and its variants.

The worm virus works by exploiting weaknesses in the distributed object component model (DCOM), which serves as the basis for Hummingbird’s product architecture – but there has so far been no evidence that the Microsoft-DCOM issues have affected any DM system.
