Masons: cut salaries by nearly 10%The list of UK firms slashing junior lawyer salaries continued to grow in recent weeks as Masons, CMS Cameron McKenna, Simmons & Simmons and Travers Smith Braithwaite announced cuts to their benchmarks for newly-qualified assistants.

The move has seen a number of major London firms drop their newly-qualified rates from the $79,500 benchmark set in the comparative boom year of 2001 to $76,320.
