Hammonds’ bulk remortgaging arm, Hammonds Direct, has set up operations in India in a ground-breaking move for the legal profession.
The Bradford-based company, which is owned by equity partners at the national firm, opened up in Delhi in June with around 50 clerical staff processing remortgaging files as part of a bid to drive down operating costs.

The new office is the first stage of a pilot project to test the cost-effectiveness of sending work out to the Indian sub-continent, which has in the past five years built a reputation as a prime location for companies to transfer telephone-based operations.
