Hopes of negotiating an orderly transfer of Altheimer & Gray’s practice are fading as the firm’s US, London and continental European arms this month split to pursue separate paths.

As Legal Week Global went to press, Altheimers’ US practice had held talks with a number of firms in the wake of the shock recommendation by management on 26 June that the debt-laden firm should be wound up. US firms set to take on substantial teams include Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal, Foley & Lardner, Morgan Lewis & Bockius and Duane Morris.
