Hong Kong lawyers have been granted highly-coveted practice rights for mainland China following a landmark agreement last month that hands local lawyers privileged access to the world’s leading growth market in legal services.
The agreement between China and the special administrative region of Hong Kong was signed on 30 June and will from 2004 for the first time allows local lawyers to qualify and practise in mainland legal centres such as Shanghai and Beijing.
