Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe is locked in a three-way merger bid with West Coast rival Cooley Godward and Palo Alto ally Venture Law Group (VLG) in a deal that promises to be the most ambitious US merger of recent years.
The tripartite merger plan was confirmed last week by partners close to the talks.
