Mediation scheme proposed for clinical negligence following CMO recommendations

The National Health Service Litigation Authority (NHSLA) is gearing up to oversee a new ‘no fault’ mediation scheme to deal with the bulk of clinical negligence claims, under sweeping reforms published this week by the Government’s chief medical officer (CMO), Liam Donaldson.
The set piece proposals, aimed at slashing the NHS’ surging legal costs, would introduce a fast-track mediation process for claims of up to £30,000.
