London firm Lovells and Italian leader Carnelutti have closed a major international deal, advising on SAB Miller’s flagship acquisition of national brewer Birra Peroni.

The e246m (£173m) deal sees Miller, advised by Lovells, acquire a 60% initial stake in the family-owned company. It is the largest M&A deal the London firm has handled in Italy this year.
London-based lead partner John Davidson was instrumental in winning the instruction for the Milan arm, the first time Lovells’ Italian office has advised the brewing giant.
