In-house lawyers working for leading UK businesses are facing increased workloads despite the economic slowdown, the latest Benchmarker survey in Legal Week‘s sister title Legal Director has found.

Of the 100 heads of legal and senior in-house lawyers contacted for the survey, which was conducted in association with Pinsents, half (50%) said that business conditions generally had deteriorated in the past year, with 14% saying they had deteriorated significantly. Only 16% said general business conditions had improved, with 5% describing this as significant, while 30% said they had remained the same.
