Salary freezes, deferred start dates and involuntary redundancies make the legal press in the UK on a day-to-day basis. Such headlines have not been typical of our Gallic neighbours’ legal scene of late.
The traditional overseas markets for English legal talent (the US, Australia and the Far East) have tightened considerably in the past two years forcing lawyers to rethink the journey. Previously the choice of relatively few, probably because it was seen as being too close to home, Paris is now very much in the sights of bright ambitious commercial lawyers.
