Olympic GamesThe International Olympic Committee (IOC) is seeking applications for the 2012 Olympic Games by this July. Following a shortlisting process at the beginning of 2004, it will make its final decision on the host city in July 2005.

Government ministers, the Mayor of London and the British Olympic Association (BOA) have been considering a key report by Arup Consultants into the possibility of London hosting those Games. The report states that a bid would cost about £13m and that the total cost for bidding, staging the Games, building the facilities and purchasing the land would amount to some £1.8bn.
