Supreme Court lifts only state-wide ban on law firms changing to LLP status

Chicago law firms have won the right to convert to limited liability partnerships (LLPs) following a decision by the Illinois Supreme Court to end a state ban.
From 1 July, the state will implement new definitions to Rules 721 and 722 that currently restrict partnerships from converting to LLPs.
