ECJ ruling opens way for EU legal qualification

The prospect of a single academic legal qualification within the European Union (EU) has come a step closer, following a preliminary ruling by the European Court of Justice (ECJ) advocate-general.

In an opinion issued on 20 March, the advocate-general, Christine Stix-Hackl, said it may be possible for French trainee Christina Morgenbesser to become an Italian trainee without having to complete an Italian law degree.
