Norton Rose has emerged as one of the first law firms to gain instructions following the war in Iraq as a host of UK and US firms manoeuvre to take part in the country’s reconstruction.
Norton Rose’s head of international arbitration, Juliet Blanch, is understood to be advising Russia’s Lukoil on its legal position with regard to agreements it entered into with the former Iraqi regime.

Lukoil is one of the many Western companies watching how the new post-war Iraq regime will deal with existing contracts.
