The Scottish Parliament has granted the Law Society of Scotland new rights to delegate more of its powers – including disciplinary procedures – to its specialist committees.
The move, which has been welcomed by the Law Society, ends uncertainty concerning the use of the body’s regulatory powers since the 1999 introduction of the Human Rights Act (HRA).
