The Paris Bar Council has begun talks to liberalise the local market’s highly restrictive rules on law firm marketing and advertising. A council meeting in March called for the easing of restrictions on advertising and the dissemination of firm material through brochures, the internet and client seminars.

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer Paris partner and Paris Bar council member in charge of communication and publicity Yves de Mahenge said that the use of the internet by French firms had bolstered the case for reform.
