The Civil Justice Council (CJC) is exploring extending the fixed costs regime further having just brokered an industry agreement to introduce fixed fees, or predictable costs, for road traffic accident claims (RTAs) under £10,000.

The cross-industry agreement, which was reached after more than a year of so-called ‘Big Tent’ meetings between lawyers and representatives of the insurance industry, was formally ratified by the CJC on 6 February. It has now been passed to the Lord Chancellor’s Department (LCD) for Government approval.
