Clifford Chance has teamed up with the Lord Chancellor’s Department (LCD) to lobby for a liberalisation of the global legal market to complement the European Commission’s (EC’s) drive to break down legal barriers across Europe.

The calls came at an Anglo-French conference in London held to coincide with the General Agreement on Trade in Services talks on legal services. Delegates at the event on Friday (14 February), which was jointly hosted by the Lord Chancellor’s Department, the Paris Bar and the Law Society of England & Wales, called for the EC’s Rights of Establishment Directive to be used as the model for nations outside the EU.
