US firms Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett have pulled out of Singapore in response to the continued slump in South East Asia’s legal market.

San Francisco-based Orricks will relocate its five-lawyer team and will also break off its joint venture (JV) with local firm Rodyk & Davidson. Meanwhile, Wall Street leader Simpson Thacher will relocate partner Alan Brenner back to its US base, with the remaining lawyers – one of counsel and four associates – transferring to its Hong Kong practice.
