In-house functions in the US are set to mushroom in the next year as corporate America grapples with risk management issues post-Enron, according to a survey of chief legal officers released this month.

The annual survey carried out by the American Corporate Counsel Association (ACCA) found that, despite the economic downturn, 37% of chief legal officers plan to increase in-house staff in the next 12 months. This compares with 18% who said they planned to expand the in-house team in a similar survey last year.
