Clayton Utz, Lovells vindicated by appeal court decision as judge dismisses McCabe judgment

An Australian appeal court has overturned the caustic ruling of a judge who accused top Sydney firm Clayton Utz of colluding in the destruction of documents vital to a tobacco suit.
The ruling also clears British American Tobacco’s (BAT) UK-based adviser Lovells of wrongdoing, with the court rejecting the original judge’s criticism of a memo drawn up by one of the firm’s partners.
