Japan opens door to foreign firms

Japan: liberalising its legal market Foreign firms in Japan are to be allowed to form single partnerships with local lawyers in a major step towards the liberalisation of the country’s legal market.

After years of lobbying from UK and US trade and legal representatives, the Japanese Ministry of Justice on 25 November unveiled draft legislation that would remove the ban on foreign firms directly offering local law.
