Spam emailsSpam e-mails, or unsolicited commercial e-mails (UCEs) to give them their formal title, are on the increase. A recent survey conducted by Messagelabs showed 12.5% of UK e-mails and 33% of US e-mails were UCEs.

At best, spam is merely an annoyance for the user. It clogs up in-boxes, and users have to take time to download and delete it. However, when the amount of time employees waste sorting through spam is taken into account, it is easy to see that spam costs businesses money.
