Foreign firms in Japan are set to be allowed to form single partnerships with local lawyers in a major step towards the liberalisation of the country’s legal services.
After years of lobbying from UK and US trade and legal representatives, the Japanese Ministry of Justice on Monday (25 November) unveiled draft legislation that would remove the ban on foreign firms directly offering local law.
