Implementation of the European Equal Treatment Directive in the UK will significantly extend the current legislation outlawing discrimination.
Before the end of next year, the UK will
have in place laws outlawing discrimination on the grounds of religion, political belief and sexual orientation. There will then be a further three-year period in which to prepare for legislation that will outlaw discrimination on the grounds of age.
