Clifford Chance (CC) has written to the Netherlands’ Ministry of Justice in a bid to head off calls by Dutch MPs this month for the global giant’s local billing practices to be investigated.
The move is designed to reassure ministers after two Dutch MPs called on the ministry to investigate the firm in the wake of the now infamous memo by CC New York associates which claimed the firm’s US billing targets “encouraged” lawyers to “pad” their hours.
